MATT MAYS - SOLO - at The Carleton!!! Special Pre-Sale Announcement!!!

SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT - SOLD OUT

Coming off two sold out shows at the Marquee with his excellent El Torpedo band, and just prior to heading off to Cornerbrook for this year's ECMAs (where his Terminal Romance album is up for 6 awards), Matt Mays will play two very special solo shows at The Carleton.

Oops...

I don't normally bother addressing typos but I know that when I refer to Ron Hynes as "The Man of 100 Songs," I know for a fact that my ass is going to get kicked all over the map. To be clear, that should read: "The Man of 1000 Songs!"

Mea culpa...

On With The Shows...This Is It...

Before I start, thank you to everyone who came out on Monday night for the Songwriter's Circle benefit for our good friend Lynn Horne. If you didn't make it, don't worry, we were so sold out it was ridiculous. We raised a not-unsubstantial amount (I'd get specific but, for sure, some as-yet-unheard-of government agency would probably try to investigate us) for Lynn and she is very appreciative, I can assure you...

"Baby It's Cold Outside"... As Dean Martin Would Sing

Yeah, it's cold alright. "Cold as a pistol in the fist of Son of Sam," as Steve Poltz would sing but there's not a helluva lot any of us can do about that except bundle up and take it on the chin like the troopers we are.

More Food News and an Entertainment Update

In an effort to serve our sporting customers more food - and in the interest of exploring our general love of illiteration - we're serving up "Rainmen Ribs" as a dinner special (on top of our usual excellent daily dinner specials) on Rainmen game days. Yeah, we like basketball...

If you haven't tried the aforementioned ribs before, think of Fred Flintstone - that's all I'm going to say. They'll be available for $8.95. Good deal. Go Rainmen Go. Oh, we are NOT joining the movement that's afoot to change the team's name to The Snowmen, just so you know...

#10We’re at the corner of Argyle & Prince streets so you can dine, look out the window and wonder with the rest of us about what they’re going to build on the old Herald building site, if they ever get around to tearing it down…

Carleton New Year's Eve

Even if it comes on the same day every year, like Christmas, it can sneak up on you. I'm talking about New Year's Eve and I can't help but notice it's upon us on Wednesday this week! Seems like just yesterday we opened...

Because it's our first New Year's Eve at The Carleton, we thought we'd put together a night that showcases all the cool elements of our establishment, and that's what we've done - great drinks, great food and great music at a reasonable price.

Dave Gunning - Nicest Guy in Showbiz at The Carleton this Sunday!

Hello Jolly Subscriber,

Please consider this our usual reminder of imminent shows. In this case, it's the Dave Gunning show, coming up on Sunday (December 21st). Dave is one of the country's best, and most beloved, songwriters and this intimate Carleton show will be a great way to get yourself in the mood for Christmas which, if memory serves, is upon us next week.

Hallo Subscribers,

Dr. Draw In the Carleton House - Tomorrow and Wednesday...

Hello Subscriber!

Eugene Draw, better known as Dr. Draw, is playing the Carleton on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Because it's the Christmas season, and because we want as many people as possible to see this fabulous artist, we're offering up some spots on our guest list for these two shows to our newsletter subscribers. If you and a guest would like to attend either of these shows, please email me (Mike Campbell) directly at mscampbell@ns.sympatico.ca and I'll get you on the list - provided there's room, of course.
