Coming off two sold out shows at the Marquee with his excellent El Torpedo band, and just prior to heading off to Cornerbrook for this year's ECMAs (where his Terminal Romance album is up for 6 awards), Matt Mays will play two very special solo shows at The Carleton.

I don't normally bother addressing typos but I know that when I refer to Ron Hynes as "The Man of 100 Songs," I know for a fact that my ass is going to get kicked all over the map. To be clear, that should read: "The Man of 1000 Songs!"

Mea culpa...

Before I start, thank you to everyone who came out on Monday night for the Songwriter's Circle benefit for our good friend Lynn Horne. If you didn't make it, don't worry, we were so sold out it was ridiculous. We raised a not-unsubstantial amount (I'd get specific but, for sure, some as-yet-unheard-of government agency would probably try to investigate us) for Lynn and she is very appreciative, I can assure you...

Yeah, it's cold alright. "Cold as a pistol in the fist of Son of Sam," as Steve Poltz would sing but there's not a helluva lot any of us can do about that except bundle up and take it on the chin like the troopers we are.

In an effort to serve our sporting customers more food - and in the interest of exploring our general love of illiteration - we're serving up "Rainmen Ribs" as a dinner special (on top of our usual excellent daily dinner specials) on Rainmen game days. Yeah, we like basketball...

If you haven't tried the aforementioned ribs before, think of Fred Flintstone - that's all I'm going to say. They'll be available for $8.95. Good deal. Go Rainmen Go. Oh, we are NOT joining the movement that's afoot to change the team's name to The Snowmen, just so you know...

Because it's our first New Year's Eve at The Carleton, we thought we'd put together a night that showcases all the cool elements of our establishment, and that's what we've done - great drinks, great food and great music at a reasonable price.
