    2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The ECMAs are taking over The Carleton for the duration of its Halifax festival 2018. Radio ECMA – a live broadcast of interviews, recorded music and live performances – will be in the house on Friday May 4th from 2 PM – 8 PM. Admission is FREE, so grab some friends, park yourselves in a seat for some food and drinks and watch the cream of the Atlantic Canadian music crop in comfort!

Radio ECMA was originally conceived in Charlottetown in 1996 and led by CBC radio pioneer Mac Campbell. The Radio format was hosted by several entities over the years until once again in 2011 (upon the return to Charlottetown, PE), Mac was behind the controls at the Delta Prince Edward. A Cape Bretoner by the name of Jim Power was walking through the lobby, ran into Mac, asked what was going on and Mac said “sit down behind the mic and I will tell you”. The rest is RADIO ECMA history.

In 2012, both Mac and Jim co-produced Radio ECMA in Moncton and at that time, Jim decided it would be wise to program the performances as opposed to a strict open mic format. The result in 2012 was 77 scheduled individual performances ranging from David Myles, Ben Caplan, Ria Mae and Mo Kenny! Our mission each year from 2012 onward was to raise the bar to 100 performances.
Thus, our mantra: 100 PERFORMANCES > 100 HOURS > 100% EAST COAST

In 2013, Jim took over the helm as the program director of Radio ECMA – The Opportunity Stage. The Opportunities were not just for the emerging artists to capture the attention of delegates and fans…but for the fans to have an opportunity to witness the amazing East Coast talent! In 2014, both Mac and Jim co-produced Radio ECMA for the last time. Sadly, after battling cancer for several years, Mac Campbell passed away in the fall of 2014. Since that time…Radio ECMA continues to grow to be one of the most exciting stages during East Coast Music week. For the last 3 years, we have taken our show on the road and this year we are very excited to be on location at The Carleton in Halifax.

We are honored to continue our mission… 100 PERFORMANCES > 100 HOURS > 100% EAST COAST !
