The Blue Lane + Peter Willie Youngtree

  • April 6, 2017
    9:00 pm - 1:00 am

New faves The Blue Lane, along with award-winning Newfoundland singer/songwriter Peter Willie Youngtree, will hold down the performance fort at The Carleton on Thursday, April 6th. The weather’s supposed to not suck for a welcome change so we hope you can make it out to support some great up-and-coming talents. Show time is 9 PM and it’s only $5 at the door.

The Blue Lane – founded in Nova Scotia during the winter of 2015: Morgan Cruickshank (guitar/vocals), Rachael Henderson (vocals/bass) and Connor Booth (drums/vocals) – is an entertaining and energetic band merging the sounds of rockabilly, jazz, blues and traditional pop musics with sultry vocals, vintage feel and fancy guitar picking. Having said that, you’ve really got to hear them to understand what that means. They’re really good.

Peter Willie Youngtree’s album Country Hymns was awarded MusicNL’s 2016 “Country Recording of the Year.” It also made eight Top 10 and Top 30 charts on Earshot! Campus and Community Radio stations, was long-listed for the Borealis Music Prize, and was called one of the best Newfoundland albums of the year by Overcast Magazine. Two tracks from the album are in rotation on CBC’s national Alt-Country online radio station and one track is featured on Top Country Canada’s “Campfire Country” Spotify playlist. He’s good.
