All the way from The Yukon, Diyet & The Love Soldiers make their way to Halifax and their Carleton debut on Wednesday, July 18th. Local up-and-comer Braden Lam will open the night. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $12.50 advanced or $15 at the door.

Diyet is Alternative Folk, Roots, Country and Traditional Aboriginal with melodies and stories deeply rooted in her Indigenous world view and northern life. Her songs are an interpretation of a northern reality: hard, raw and will break you if it can but at the same time, always beautiful, gentle, strange and intensely alive. She performs as a trio, Diyet & the Love Soldiers, with husband and collaborator, Robert van Lieshout on guitar and foot percussion and multi- instrumentalist, Bob Hamilton. Continuing to live with feet firmly planted in two worlds, Diyet’s adventurous and sometimes chaotic life is on full display in her music. She often says, “yesterday, fishing for our dinner on the ice, the next day, on the stage singing for you!”

Born in a tent, raised in a cabin on the shores of a glacial lake in the Kluane region of Canada’s Yukon Territory, Diyet embodies her Southern Tutchone, Japanese, Tlingit and Scottish roots with a musical presence that is equally diverse and unique.

Braden Lam mends every situation with his feel-good hooks and warm vocals. The folk singer-songwriter from Halifax, NS builds upon influences such as Hey Rosetta! and Dallas Green to create the refreshing and upbeat anthems of his life.

His recent single Into The Light (Nov 2017) spent time on the ECC top 10 in Atlantic Canada and was well received by industry peers across the country. Growing up in rural Ontario, Braden’s honest lyrics reflect the many landscapes of his upbringing. His debut EP The Coast was released in 2016 before settling upon Nova Scotia’s salty shores; where he has since been inspired and shaped by the allure of the ocean.

Looking ahead to this Summer 2018, Braden will perform a series of both solo and full band shows around Nova Scotia. His follow up album will be released in Fall 2018 with an Atlantic Canada tour.
