We are exceptionally happy to confirm that Midge Ure (Utravox, Visage, Thin Lizzy) and the man who wrote Do They Know It’s Christmas, among many other achievements has agreed to drop down into Halifax from the UK, on his way to the rest of his North American tour, for a show at The Carleton on Thursday, February 19th. Show time is 9 PM and tickets are $25 advanced or $30 at the door.
Midge Ure has certainly been around and has his fingerprints on a number of influential bands from the punk rock days (Rich Kids with Glen Matlock – an original Sex Pistol) to the 80s and 90s with acts Visage and, of course, Ultravox. He even did a stint with Thin Lizzy at one point and co-wrote Phil Lynott‘s biggest solo hit, Yellow Rose.
He’s also the man responsible for writing Do They Know It’s Christmas and the organizer of the Band Aid project as well as helping to put together both Live Aid and Live 8 with Sir Bob Geldof.
He has five solo albums to his credit, the most recent, <strong>Fragile, was released in 2014.
This Carleton solo show will be his first visit to Halifax and we’re looking to make it a great night for him!
