Robbie Smith and Kath Glauser, better known as Naming The Twins, along with musical pal Jude Pelley, launch their latest album with a show at The Carleton on Wednesday, December 5th. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $12.50 advanced or $15 at the door.
If you’d like to get in the spirit of the Christmas season but you’ve grown a little tired of the songs that usually go with it – Naming the Twins will be presenting selections from their totally original Winter/Christmas album: Sing the Winter Away in concert format. Their style is uniquely their own but would not be out of place on a shelf with Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter Paul and Mary, Ian and Sylvia, Stan Rogers.
For those already familiar with their previous 3 CDs, here’s your chance to catch their live act and drink in some of their latest songs. For those hearing this band for the 1st time – here’s the formula: Take a seasoned musician singer/songwriter and entertainer (Robbie Smith) – add a sprightly, eager-to harmonize and engage with any audience anywhere folk singer (Kath Glauser), mix in the formidable talents of one of the most intuitive multi-instrumentalists on the planet (Jude Pelley) supporting the Twins’ finger-style acoustic guitar sound, and you’ll get some idea of what to expect at The Carleton. All 3 of these musical personalities are acoustic-holics and love to convey the meaning of well-thought out lyrics.
In these busy times we live in, do yourself a favour, set up a supper reservation at The Carleton relax get drawn in and transported by the stories in the songs by Naming the Twins. Dinner reservations recommended for best seating.
