Selby Evans and thé Sōhei take over The Carleton stage to play songs from his upcoming album on Thursday, November 8th. Show time is 9 PM. Selby is selling tickets – $15 – for the show HERE and there will be some available at the door.

Multi-instrumentalist Selby Evans will perform songs from his forthcoming jazz-rap album with his quartet, the Sōhei. He is fortunate to be accompanied by Luke Arsenault on bass, Shane Martin on drums, and Stephen Fewer on guitar.

The album which features lyrics, guitars and keys by Evans, touches on contemporary social issues, and blends jazz harmonies with hip-hop appeal, all the while retaining a certain pop sensitivity.

Tickets are also available at the door and at select locations in Halifax.

The Sōhei were Buddhist warrior monks of both medieval and feudal Japan – at times intervening between church and state to advocate for peace.
