The Carlton - Home

Gordie "Grady" Johnson Returns to The Carleton - Wednesday, March 3rd - 9 PM - $20

Description:

I famously got a phone call from Gordie Johnson in late August '09 (on a Sunday night), telling me he was coming to do a show at the Canada Games in PEI and wondering if he might be able to do a show at The Carleton that week. Well, the week he was talking about was the one almost upon us. I told him I'd get back to him the next day.

After some anxious thought about whether we could sell a show in 4 days (the prospective date was on the Thursday), I decided to give it a shot. I sent out a newsletter on the Monday and made sure we'd have an ad in The Coast for the day of show. Well... The show sold out in less than 36 hours and there were a lot of awfully surprised - and vaguely pissed off - people calling after seeing the ad in the Coast and wondering why and how the show was already gone.

The gig was, as anyone who was lucky enough to be there will attest, one of the best shows we've ever had at our place. Not only did he bring along Tim Chaisson (who's album he was producing at the time) but John Angus MacDonald from The Trews sat in for half the show. And it was epic!

So, don't be one of the snoozers. Get your tickets ASAP!

For those of you blissfully unaware, Gordie is the former front man of legendary Canadian reggaie/roots/rockers Big Sugar and currently fronts the equally powerful Grady. This is a rare chance to see the man solo. He's also a killer producer and has made albums with The Trews and the Joel Plaskett Emergency, among many others.

Guaranteed awesome by us... Tickets are $20 and are available from the club at 902-422-6335.
