Past Performances

Here are some shows that we have recently had at the Carleton.

Catherine MacLellan & Jadea Kelly
22 Feb 9:00 pm
Category:  Carleton Restaurant

I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again now, "Catherine MacLellan's Silhouette is one of the best albums I've heard from a female singer/songwriter in this country - ever!" AND I've vowed to continue to book Catherine into our joint until she routinely sells out and then gets too "big" to play our room.

So, to that end, we are proudly presenting Catherine's show on Wednesday, February 22nd. Show time is 9 PM and tickets are a ridiculously low $15 (including taxes!).

Carleton's Month of Video Mondays - with Eddie Cummings Band, Writer's Strike, Will Be Gones & Band Before Time
20 Feb 10:00 pm
Category:  Carleton Restaurant

It's February - the coldest month of the year in Nova Scotia - and there's not a lot we can do about that! However, to at least warm up the Mondays of the month, we're doing a cool little thing called A Month of Video Mondays at The Carleton.

This entails having 4 bands play on each Monday of the month. We'll be multi-track recording each act and shooting its set with 5 HD cameras. Each participating band will get one song mixed and edited to use any way they like. The band that draws the most fans will get its whole set mixed and edited.

This week's bands are: Eddie Cummings Band, Writer's Strike, Will Be Gones & Band Before Time. The show starts at 10 PM and should wrap up before 1:00 AM. It's only 5 bucks so it won't break the bank. Try it, I expect you'll like it!

Ian Janes Band - Absolut Thursday!
16 Feb 10:00 pm
Category:  Carleton Restaurant

We are super-stoked to be able to say that the fabulous Ian Janes Band will be taking up the Absolut Thursday residency at The Carleton Music Bar & Grill. I've said it before and I'm saying it again now, Ian is one of the best Soul/R&B singers in the country (if not THE best). As an added bonus, he's a great songwriter and an excellent guitarist. His trio also features Tom Roach on drums and Tom Easley on bass

The night gets underway at 10 PM and it's a measly $5 at the door to get in.

Rhapsody Quintet
15 Feb 8:00 pm
Category:  Carleton Restaurant

I always say, in answer to the oft-asked question, "what kind of music do you program at The Carleton?" that I'll present any kind of music as long as (a) there's an audience for it and (b) it's great. So it should come as no surprise that the extraordinary Rhapsody Quintet will be on our stage on Wednesday, February 15th. Show time is 8 PM and admission is a very reasonable $20 (taxes included).

I'd say this show is worth postponing Valentine's Day by 24 hours!

Occasionally it turns out that talent runs in a family; very occasionally talent is passed down from father to son. In the Guthro family, it's quite clear that father Bruce has passed that talent gene along to son Dylan. We are very happy to announce that Dylan Guthro's CD release party will be at The Carleton Music Bar & Grill on Wednesday, February 8th. The show will start at 8 PM and tickets (which are going unbelievably fast, by the way) are a very, very affordable $15.

Producers Bruce Guthro and Dave Gunning will be opening the show for young star Dylan.

Bidiniband & Sean Panting

Category:  Carleton Restaurant

Dave Bidinini's post Rheostatics outfit, Bidiniband, with support from St. John's excellent songsmith, Sean Panting, will play The Carleton on Tuesday, February 7th. Both artists will have new albums out. Last time Dave and the band were in, they turned in a couple of the best nights of music we've ever had in the place. This time around will be no different. Show time is 9 PM and tickets are $20.00 (including taxes). Get 'em while they last!

This first time through they'll be playing The Carleton Music Bar & Grill on Sunday, January 29th and Monday, January 30th and we've decided to make these "customer appreciation nights," which means there will be no cover charge.
