Eastern Ontario troubadour (in the truest sense of the word) John Allaire – along with opener Darrel Cameron – returns to The Carleton to spin some yarns and sing some songs on Tuesday, June 9th. Live music gets underway at a civilized 7 PM and tickets are $20 + HST.

John Allaire is one of Canada’s true independent road warriors—an award-winning songwriter, sharp-witted storyteller, and relentless live performer who averages 150+ shows a year. In 2026, he marked his 3,500th career performance with a run of sold-out shows, cementing his reputation as a must-see live act.

This Eastern Ontario troubadour has been named winner of the Americana Songwriters’ Association Award (Nashville) for Lyricist of the Year and the Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Live Show. Allaire has been praised by Penguin Eggs Magazine as a new Neil Young.” In fact, he, along with his backing band, The Campistas, were asked to open for Neil Young and Crazy Horse on the 2024 Love Earth Tour. Allaire’s performances blend heartfelt songwriting, humour, and razor-sharp observations, making him a festival favourite and club-land institution.

This year, Allaire is touring with his debut novel Motel Matchbooks, a memoir about the long road of an independent touring musician—where songs, stories, and survival blur somewhere between the next town and the last call.

John Allaire show is part concert, part story-telling confessional, and never just another night out.

Darrel Cameron is a Halifax-based singer-songwriter whose roots-driven sound blends folk, Americana, and classic East Coast storytelling. He has released multiple acclaimed recordings, toured extensively throughout Atlantic Canada, and is a familiar face on regional festival and listening-room stages. Cameron’s work has earned regular airplay on CBC and campus radio, and he’s known for sharing bills with many of the Maritimes’ most respected songwriters. His performances are intimate, lyrical, and quietly powerful—delivered with the confidence of a seasoned craftsman
