Australian blues legend Frank Sultana & Cape Breton’s RG Schaller team up for what promises to be a crackerjack night of country, folk and blues tunes at The Carleton on Thursday, September 3rd. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $20 + HST.
In January 2023, Australian bluesman Frank Sultana became just the third artist outside of North America to win the prestigious Memphis International Blues Challenge in its 43 year history. His career in Australia began in 2011, and he has since made 16 studio recordings , including 2 at the famed Sun Studio in Memphis , Tennessee. He has received 7 Sydney Blues Society Blues Awards and was nominated for an APRA Award in 2023.
He performs regularly on the largest Australian Blues festival stages like Bluesfest, Blues on Broadbeach, etc. and since his IBC win has made inroads into the US scene, performing at the Durango Blues Train in Colorado, the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas, the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise out of Florida as well as performances in Memphis Tennessee and Clarksdale Mississippi.
Back home in Australia he is a popular and much loved artist on the Australian blues scene, his albums are on high rotation on Australian radio, all charting well on the Australian blues and roots airplay charts, including his latest album which spent 2 months at #1.
