“Due to our rapidly evolving public health situation, we are moving the 6th Annual Shine Blue Show to livestream only with NO IN PERSON AUDIENCE.  Your ticket purchase is a donation to Autism NS and your copy of my new album “Sitting Tight” is a thank you for that support. I will be in contact in the next few days and mail your new music to you.  We invite you to tune in to the show from home – if you would like a refund that can be arranged as well through The Carleton.  So sit tight and join us tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at 7:30 pm AST on Facebook Live @TheCarletonHalifax and @LeonaBurkeyMusic and bless your shiny blue hearts.  Stay safe and thank you.”

A word from Leona…
Hey there – I’m so happy to be hosting another Shine Blue Show with the help of the fine folks at the Carleton. The idea for this show was born when I released a record called Wave Theory in 2015 – with the title track inspired by life with my young son, who is autistic. We’ve raised a small boatload of money these past five years with some lovely and lively shows. This year I’m joined by Shine Blue faithfuls Jon and David + some extra special guests. Celebrating neurodiversity is a big theme in my world and I am looking forward to celebrating once again with you all. Huge thanks to the Carleton for helping make this happen and for doing such an incredible job keeping live music alive for us.

This new record Sitting Tight is an extraordinary recording project that I’m so pleased to be releasing on this night – my family of friends, fans & music lovers – in these most extraordinary times.
Side A began as an EP in 2019, aptly but coincidentally named “The Sitting Tight Sessions” which were so much fun, a full length project had to happen.
Then the world changed.
Side B was a remarkable experiment in piecing together remotely tracked contributions from some of the best music makers here in NS all the way to Nashville. It’s my most, erm, folk-forward collection of songs yet and I can’t wait to share ‘em with you.  Produced and mixed by A.J.H Gillis, recorded at Ocean Floor under the watch of Charles Austin, mixed at New Scotland Yard… Sitting Tight is made up of musical gifts from some of my favourite talents including Jordan Murphy, Tom Rich, Phil Sedore, Roddie Crowell, Darren McMullen, John Mullane, Scott Trivers
and Kev Corbett – I know, right? Lucky me – lucky you.
Hope you love the result as much as I do.  Come sit tight with us and support this important cause & organization.
