On the last night of the Halifax Jazz Festival, The Carleton presents An Intimate Evening with Karen Myatt‘s trio for a stylish soirée of sultry jazz standards. Show time is 8 PM and tickets are $10.

Jazz vocalist and theatre artist Karen Myatt has appeared on stages in New York, Mexico, and throughout Canada. She has trained at the Randolph Academy in Toronto and is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Her mentors include Canadian soprano and new music interpreter Janice Jackson and New York City Opera star Eileen Schauler. In NYC, Karen was named one of Broadway’s Rising Stars and performed in the Broadway Summer Series at the Town Hall under the direction of Tony-Nominated Emily Skinner. She has written and performed cabaret in Mexico, New York, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax and is a co-founder of Halifax’s Wild Abandon Productions.

Locally, Karen has performed with the highly acclaimed Rhapsody Quintet in such venues as Halifax’s Jazz and Nocturne Festivals and appeared as vocalist for Rhapsody’s performance of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Karen plays regularly with pianist Scott Taylor and her trio of Holly Arsenault (piano), David Langstroth (double bass) and Brock Caldwell (drums). The trio collaborated with Karen on her recently released debut album Enchanté.
