We are excited to announce that veteran local keyboard player Kim Dunn has put a cracker-jack band together for a special performance at The Carleton on Sunday, April 19th. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $20.
Over a thirty-year career, Kim Dunn has become known as a musician’s musician. A consummate keyboard sideman who has recorded and toured with a who’s who of east coast artists including Rita MacNeil, Bruce Guthro, Matt Minglewood, Jimmy Rankin, Heather Rankin, Laura Smith, Lennie Gallant, David Myles, Jill Barber, Dave Gunning, George Canyon and many others. But there’s a whole lot more to Kim than his sideman skills: Kim is a true-blue ‘triple-threat’ – musician, singer and songwriter.
With two solo recordings to his credit, Kim displays his versatility as an artist, seamlessly blending elements of jazz, blues, pop, folk and country styles. Live sets include a mixture of well-crafted originals and carefully-chosen covers – and they NEVER disappoint!
What’s so special about this show? Well, as a busy, touring artist it’s simply rare that we get to have him on the Carleton stage. But, on top of that, for this show, Kim is surrounding himself with some top talent including guitarist Jamie Robinson, bassist Ron Hynes and the recently-returned-to-Halifax Steve Gaetz on drums. Maybe this is the beginning of a new band? Who knows? In any case, you’ll get to say that you heard them here first.
This promises to be a great night of music and a show that you won’t want to miss!
