Marla & David Celia stop by The Carleton on their way to Germany to celebrate the release of their new Indistinct Chatter album – along with special guest and co-headliner Kim Dunn – on Thursday, September 29th. Live music gets underway at 7:30 PM and tickets are $20 +HST.

Marla & David Celia are on tour with their sophomore album, Indistinct Chatter: heady, summery ’70s vibe, Spector-esque drumbeats and strummed chords with a splash of Nilsson eccentricity. With duet vocal harmonies in the foreground, they dive through progressive chord changes, elaborate arrangements and round it all off with well-crafted ballads. Music brought them together when they met at a festival in 2015. Their début album, Daydreamers (2018) has taken them from L.A. to Russia, as well as England’s famous Glastonbury festival. In the last 6 years they have played over 800 shows together.
They recently played before Blue Rodeo on Mariposa’s main stage in July and will be on their merry way to Europe directly after this visit to The Carleton in Halifax, including stops in Germany supporting actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland.

Born and raised in North Sydney, Cape Breton, and living just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, multi award winning musician Kim Dunn has been working on a successful music career for 30 years now, with a brief four year reprieve studying Jazz at ST. FX.
In addition to producing, musical directing and arranging credits, Kim  has worked with the who’s who of East coast artists including, Rita MacNeil, Bruce Guthro, Laura Smith, Jimmy Rankin, Heather Rankin, Matt Anderson, Meaghan Smith, Dave Gunning, George Canyon, and many others.
