It’s been four years since Owen Meany’s Batting Stance‘s debut EP, and in that time Daniel Walker has toured across Canada and overseas and dealt with the thrills and lulls of the music industry. ‘Feather Weights‘ showcases eight more of his singularly-voiced short stories that describe the every day with carefully chosen adjectives, deep insight, and thoughtful perspective.

Feather Weights‘, OMBS’s new sophomore record was recorded above a fishmonger’s shop in the north end of Halifax with producer Palmer Jamieson. Feather Weights boasts the Owen Meany live band: bassist Cailen Alcorn Pygott and keyboardist Siobhan Martin—as well as a host of top-tier Halifax musicians, including drummer Michael Belyea, vocalists Kim Harris and Emilee Sorrey, and trumpeter Daniel Ledwell; Ottawa vet Jim Bryson also appears in the form of deft and thoughtful guitar work.

Guitarist for a myriad of well loved east coast artists, including Sorrey, Andrew Murray releases material under the names Chet Martel and Baby God (along with collaborator and former North Lakes frontman Nathan Gill). Equally inspired by Canadian folk, American indie rock, and 60’s British psychedelia, Andrew weaves a tangled web of observational, earnest, and occasionally experimental material.
