Preston Reed – CANCELLED

  • April 4, 2020
    7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Sadly, we heard from Preston on Wed March 11 that due to COVID-19 concerns, he’s decided to cancel his upcoming tour.  Ticket holders will be contacted shortly regarding their refunds.  Here’s the message we received …

Dear Eastern Canada and Detroit-area promoters and venues,
It is with great regret that I am writing to you to let you that we have had to make the decision to postpone my upcoming April tour due to the corona virus pandemic.
Catherine and I have been closely watching the situation unfold and, as the daily numbers of infection increase, as countries introduce social distancing and cancel sports and cultural gatherings, as travel restrictions and area / countrywide lock-downs are imposed, as airlines drastically reduce the number of international flights in and out of countries (I would be traveling from Scotland), and — finally and just as importantly — not wishing to be part of spreading the virus further, we feel it is the right decision to make.
We are grateful to all of you for working with us. We hope to reorganize the dates for later in the year when it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your understanding.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Preston (and Catherine)

International guitar superstar Preston Reed, the man that Daniel Champagne calls “the OG” of his style, has a handful of Canadian dates on his upcoming tour and one of them will be The Carleton on Saturday, April 4th. Show time for this very special performance will be 7 PM. Tickets are $17.50 advanced or $20 at the door.

One of the most influential and innovative guitarists of the past quarter century, Preston Reed invented integrated percussive guitar playing in the late 1980s, revolutionising the way the acoustic guitar is played and inspiring generations of musicians around the world ever since. Employing multi-voiced grooves, polyrhythmic percussion and story-telling compositions, Reed’s visionary approach fully exploits the breathtaking orchestral potential of the acoustic guitar.

Since 1979 Preston has released seventeen critically-acclaimed albums and performed on six continents. His long teaching experience includes The Swannanoa Gathering, where he taught Kaki King, his own week-long workshops in Scotland, attended by many over the years including Ed Sheeran, and his recent masterclass at Berklee College of Music. His 1994 instructional video, The Guitar Of Preston Reed: Expanding The Realm Of Acoustic Playing continues to set today’s and tomorrow’s top players on the path to developing their own musical voices on the instrument.
