After a successful trip to Halifax for the ECMAs showcasing as Youngtree & The Blooms, Newfoundland’s Youngtree & Carole Bee, along with pal Terra Spencer, gang up to make a night of it at The Carleton on Wednesday, August 16th. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $20 + HST. That’s some serious talent on the stage right there folks…

Peter Youngtree and Carole Bestvater have been playing music together since 2015. Developing a close musical and creative partnership through their multiple award-winning band Youngtree & The Blooms, the two launched their spin-off duo in 2020, when the band’s summer dates were cancelled and five-piece bands weren’t allowed on Newfoundland stages. Their one rule – “only play music we love” – means an eclectic mix of Scandinavian, Irish, Newfoundland, and American folk music, original instrumental compositions inspired by bluegrass and classical influences, original lyrical compositions, and occasional forays into Surf Rock and Western Swing. Youngtree & Carole Bee has become a sought after act for their exuberant stage energy and clear love of music and performance, bringing joy and good-natured fun to their audiences.

Raised on the mud banks of the Avon River, award-winning Nova Scotian funeral director-turned-songwriter Terra Spencer has won over audiences in Canada, the UK, and Germany since her 2018 debut. She has already crafted a catalogue of startlingly intimate songs, marrying fingerstyle guitar, gospel piano, and her butterscotch voice with sly humour and 70s wood-paneled warmth. Terra recently released her third album, Old News, created with Ben Caplan and celebrated with a cross-Canada and UK tour, and will join David Francey in 2023  for his upcoming album release tour. In a room of 5 or 500, every show is a knee-to-knee conversation with a natural storyteller. “The real deal.” – Ron Sexsmith
