Our good pal, Cape Breton‘s Gordie Sampson, dropping into The Carleton from his home in Nashville for his semi-annual summer shows, has just added a third show for Monday, July 18th! Shows on Tuesday, July 19th and Wednesday, July 20th are sold out so if you missed out, here’s your chance! Tickets are $30 and show time each night is 8 PM. Australia’s The Mae Trio will open.
Gordie Sampson is certainly one of the best songwriters this country has produced and if you need convincing, how’s this? He’s won a Grammy, 3 Junos, an American Country Music Award, 4 Canadian Country Music Awards, 13 East Coast Music Awards (the list does go on) and had his songs covered by the likes of Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town and a raft of others.
Gordie’s shows – as rare as they may be – are always a good night out, so get your tickets NOW to avoid disappointment!
Award-winning Australians, The Mae Trio – Maggie Rigby (banjo, ukuleles, guitar, marimba and vocals), Elsie Rigby (violin, ukulele and vocals) and Anita Hillman (cello, bass and vocals) – started playing together in 2011, and the last year has seen the band burst onto international stages all over the globe. Their debut album Housewarming was produced by Luke Plumb of Shooglenifty and features percussionist extraordinaire James Mackintosh also of Shooglenifty fame.
