INSIDE THE WRITING ROOM

This Hour Has 22 Minutes is an iconic show that has been at the forefront of provocative satire for more than a quarter of a century, targeting politics, culture, and world events. Celebrating its 26th Season on CBC this year, 22 Minutes is now the longest running comedy show in Canadian history.

On January 30, the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia invites you to go behind the scenes with four current writers of the hit show – Heidi Brander, Kevin Shustack, Nour Hadidi, and head writer Mike Allison. What is it like to write for a show that is steeped in the Canadian identity? How do you write on the East Coast for a national audience? How does an aspiring writer get a gig on this show? What is the work schedule like when you have to write a new show every single week? What scripts have worked best? Which have bombed?

In this special panel discussion, prepare to laugh as you learn about the inner workings of the 22 Minutes writers’ room from the experts.

The event begins at 7 pm. Please make dinner reservations for preferred seating by calling The Carleton at 902-422-6335 or visit The Carleton online.

The Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia would like to thank the participating writers, Trevor Murphy of Pigeon Row, and Mike Campbell of The Carleton for making this WFNS fundraiser possible.
