The AfterWords Literary Festival presents It Pains Me To Say: A Panel Discussion with Gabrielle Drolet, Claire Cameron and Stephanie Domet at The Carleton on Friday, November 7th at 2:00 PM (doors at 1:30 PM).  Please register through the Festival for this FREE event HERE.

Life is pain, according to philosophers from the Buddha to Schoepenhauer to Nietzche to The Dread Pirate Roberts in The Princess Bride. For many writers, pain is both a fact of life, and a subject of art. Gabrielle Drolet (Look Ma, No Hands) and Claire Cameron (How to Survive a Bear Attack) join festival co-founder Stephanie Domet to talk about pain, and how it works in, alongside, and against art.

Claire Cameron is the author of the national bestsellers The Last Neanderthal, The Bear, and, most recently, How to Survive a Bear Attack

Gabrielle Drolet is a cartoonist and writer based in Montreal. Her written work about disability and culture has appeared in The New York Times, The Walrus, Teen Vogue, and more. She regularly contributes cartoons to The New Yorker and The Globe and Mail.

Stephanie Domet is the author of two novels, Homing and Fallsy Downsies, both published by Invisible. She also co-wrote a non-fiction book for middle grade readers called Amazing Atlantic Canadian Women, published by Nimbus. She is the co-founder and co-executive director of the AfterWords Literary Festival, and the managing editor of The Dalhousie Review. She is no doubt wearing something she sewed herself.
