Montreal-based Ariana Nasr returns – with her extraordinary vocal and instrumental talents – to The Carleton for a rare solo show on Sunday, September 13th. Show time is 7 PM and tickets are $25 + HST and worth every penny.

Ariana Nasr is a captivating singer and multi-instrumentalist who is dedicated to sharing her passion for music through live performance. In her solo show she accompanies herself with a chromatic button accordion, offering a surprisingly varied repertoire which includes popular songs from a variety of traditions: French chanson, American jazz and blues classics, popular songs from around the world sung in their original languages, and the occasional classical aria.

Originally from Nova Scotia, she has spent the last 9 years living and performing in Montréal.

Ariana’s musical journey began in her childhood, surrounded by a family of music lovers. She studied various instruments, including saxophone, clarinet, violin and piano, and performed in multiple wind ensembles and jazz bands in her native Nova Scotia. After spending many years working in an original duo she fell in love with French chanson, leading her to create a tribute show to the legendary Édith Piaf in 2015. Since 2016, she has performed in a duo with the guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Curtis Thorpe, playing soprano saxophone, violin, and accordion. She is also part of a family music project, showcasing the poetic works of her late father, a Sufi poet from Afghanistan, alongside her talented sisters Sahara and Kamila Nasr, and brother-in-law Ken Shorley.
