Known as dynamic, eclectic, intense and label-defying, Montreal’s Roddy Ellias is a well-known guitarist, composer and improviser, and an unmissable performer. Winnipeg-born, New York-based drummer, composer and bandleader Curtis Nowosad, brings his stellar band and his newest release Dialectics.

Guitarist, composer, performer, improviser,  Roddy Ellias draws from so many musical influences his work defies labels. As each piece unfolds it tells its own unique story — eclectic, intense, rhythmic, powerful and ultimately human. Ellias is equally at home with contemporary new music, jazz or classical repertoire. His dynamism as an artist and his consistent pursuit of harmonic and melodic adventure have made him a consummate musician. Known for his energetic performances and his thoughtful renditions of both new and existing works, he continues to surprise and delight his audiences.

New York-based drummer, composer, and bandleader Curtis Nowosad has developed a reputation as a highly-skilled, versatile, and forward-thinking musician. A Winnipeg native, he’s recognized as one of the faces of the new generation of jazz players in Canada, and he has performed with such renowned jazz musicians as Philip Harper, Donny McCaslin, Stefon Harris, Miguel Zenón, Jack Wilkins, George Colligan, Dave Douglas, and Steve Wilson. He has performed with two NEA Jazz Masters, Candido Camero and Jimmy Owens, and recently recorded with a third, pianist Kenny Barron.
