A DJ and live hip hop take on the holiday season, Maritimes Mixmas features DJ Amoona + live performances from a plethora of artists (names and bios under the poster) in support of SPCA Nova Scotia at The Carleton on Friday, December 5th. Show time is 8 PM and tickets for this worthy cause are only $15 + HST. **This event is  19+.**

DJ Amoona, has been mastering the art of mixing since 2014. Driven by a self-taught passion that continued after teaming up with 902 Nonstop Records, gaining knowledge that has now fueled two years as an entrepreneur. Known for blending hip-hop, R&B, dance, throwbacks and more into high-energy sets, DJ Amoona creates experiences that connect people through their music. Bringing the bass, heart, rhythm, and pure energy to every dance floor. Blowing the roofs off Scotia, one venue at a time!

JR SLOTTA is an emerging hip-hop artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He’s known for his energetic underground rap style and has been steadily building a presence across platforms like YouTube, Soundcloud, Spotify and Apple Music. His music often features bold beats and raw lyricism showcasing his gritty, DIY aesthetic.

Jake Mercer is a hip hop artist and producer from Halifax, Nova Scotia, blending raw East Coast grit with heartfelt storytelling. With roots in the 90s/2000s hip hop and rock scene, Mercer honed his voice as a vocalist and writer in heavy metal bands before shifting into hip hop in 2022. Since then, he’s released 29 tracks across streaming platforms, showcasing emotional lyrics that cut deep while carrying the swagger of a seasoned performer. Known for his hard-hitting beats and authentic delivery, Mercer’s sound bridges old-school influence with modern edge. In 2024, he engineered a track for Canadian hip hop pioneer Choclair, further cementing his reputation as both an artist and studio craftsman.

Breezy Borden is a rising hip-hop artist known for his gritty lyricism, sharp metaphors, and raw storytelling. Rooted in Nova Scotia, his music captures the struggle, resilience, and pride of life in the Maritimes while carrying a universal message of ambition and survival. Breezy blends street-inspired narratives with introspective emotion, creating verses that cut deep and hooks that stay stuck in your head. With a style that’s both hard-hitting and lyrical, he stands out as a voice representing the overlooked corners of Canadian hip-hop, turning pain into power and vision into art.

Ryszky Biz is a Canadian lyricist and industry veteran based in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia, known for his gritty yet melodic fusion of hip-hop, R&B, and rock. His music is a deep, emotional reflection on the theme that “life has a way of getting in the way of life,” delivered with complex, multi-syllable rhyme schemes. A true hip-hop professional, Ryszky Biz has opened for majora acts like Mobb Deep, Xzibit, D12, and Lloyd Banks. He has released key mixtapes including Rap Therapy and Still Non Stop, and leveraged his industry background—including an internship with Shady/Aftermath—to establish his own professional hub, Red Panther Concepts recording studio.
