One of the rising independent Punjabi voices to watch, Sekhon X brings a blend of emotional storytelling, romantic expression, and modern Punjabi pop–hip-hop energy to the stage. Born and raised in Punjab, India, Sekhon discovered songwriting early, using music as a personal outlet when adjusting to a new school. What began as lyrics written quietly in notebooks soon grew into a serious artistic pursuit. After moving to Canada in 2021, Sekhon balanced construction work and studies while investing his savings into a home recording setup — launching his music career independently.
Without industry backing, he taught himself writing, singing, and recording through self-study and observation, developing a sound inspired by artists such as Russ, Nic D, LaRussell, and Diljit Dosanjh while honouring classic Punjabi influences. Sekhon X gained major online traction in 2023 after embracing social media as a platform for independent promotion, building a following of over 200,000 across platforms, including 90K+ on Instagram. His breakout track Still in Love went viral in India and landed on Spotify’s Top 50 Viral Songs playlist, introducing his heartfelt storytelling to a global audience.
