Join us for a Country-based songwriters’ circle with gifted local artists Cameron Nickerson, Taylor Jenson, Brooklyn Blackmore and Brandon Davis at The Carleton on Thursday, August 27th. The tunes will start at 7:30 PM and tickets are only $20 + HST.

Hailing from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, Cameron Nickerson has been playing country music since he was about 8 years old. Although most interested in rock and metal music in his childhood, Cam became inspired by by both his father and grandfather, who both played and toured in country-bluegrass bands.
Nickerson’s 2018 solo career debut LP, Detours, established him as a formidable voice on the East Coast, earning nominations for Country Album of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards (2019) and the Nova Scotia Music Awards (2018). In 2023, Cameron returned stronger than ever with his sophomore record, Submission, a critically acclaimed album recognized with a Nova Scotia Music Award nomination. This record supported Cameron’s live music journey, as he went on to play the 2023 Cavendish Beach Music Festival (Emerging Artist Stage), and Larlee Creek Hullaboo (Main Stage).
Wheels of Steel, the first single off the upcoming The Wagon album, released in April 2025, quickly picked up a 2025 CCMA (Canadian Country Music Award) nomination for his creative marketing campaign. The Wagon is Cameron’s first official venture into the bluegrass genre, after having dreamed of making a bluegrass record for many years. This bold move further showcases Nickerson’s versatility, as he embraces the vibrant and progressive sounds of folk music, while staying true to his storytelling roots.
Taylor Jensen is a Canadian country artist and songwriter from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, creating music and spaces rooted in honesty, connection, and belonging.
Blending sharp storytelling with a modern coastal edge, Jensen’s music explores the beautifully complicated moments that make us human—from heartbreak and healing to self-discovery, resilience, and finding joy in the middle of life’s uncertainty.
2026 marks a breakout year for Jensen. Following the release of her bold new single, One Hell of a Show, she had been selected as one of just eight semi-finalists in the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, one of Canada’s premier platforms for emerging country talent. The recognition signals an exciting new chapter as she continues to establish herself as one of the country’s rising voices.
Brooklyn Blackmore‘s sound is influenced by the old-school mystical style of Stevie Nicks and modern artists like Miley Cyrus. An award-winning performer and recording artist, Blackmore has been named Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year at the North American Country Music Association Awards and was the winner of the Global Country Star Search. Brooklyn’s debut album, Get a Little Crazy, was nominated for Country Recording of the Year at East Coast Music Awards and Country Recording of the Year and New Artist Recording of the year at Music Nova Scotia Awards. Her music video Great Minds Drink Alike was also nominated for Fan’s Choice Video of the Year at ECMA 2024.
