Ray Reaves celebrates the release of his new EP – Gemini – at The Carleton on his birthday, Friday, June 8th, along with friends Aquakultre, Kxng Wooz, Kiddo and DJ Choi. Show time is 10 PM and admission is $10 at the door.

American rapper Ray Reaves is a passionate self-taught Hip Hop artist, singer-songwriter, and producer currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. New Jersey born and Atlanta raised, Ray has a unique set of influences that shape his sound. He makes Sadboy rap with energizing elements that make you want to want to twerk away your sorrows.

This East Coast sadboy found his early inspiration from the works of Drake, using his misfortune with the opposite sex as his muse. He’s dedicated the past 6 years to developing a vulnerable and authentic sound that replicates the way his brain processes his real-life situations. His lyrics display strong storytelling elements along with an utter lack of concern with oversharing. When asked about his sound Ray states “I’m sad and I rap good. I guess that’s why people like my music. Everyone’s a little bit sad sometimes and people like to dance to what they can relate to.

His first official release, For A Lack Of Better Words, marked the beginning of his collaborative work with his newly formed Nova Scotian hip-hop collective: The Antagonists. The crew plan on releasing a barrage of content including 6 Ray Reaves projects in 2018. Ray serves as an agent and manager as well as a producer and artist for the collective.
