March’s second, sold out, and highly entertaining, Shaggy Dog story night has us scheduling a third show with 8-10 new storytellers at The Carleton on Thursday, October 22nd. Our speakers will begin spinning true yarns at 7 PM and tickets – with all proceeds going to the AfterWords Literary Festival – are only $12.50 + HST.

in November, 2025 we held our first Story Tellers’ night at the joint. Just a bunch of regular folks, on stage, telling cool, and often very funny, tales ripped from the headlines of their real lives. It was a great success and a super-fun night. We sold it out.

So we gave it a name –  Shaggy Dog – and sold out a second show in March of this year. We’re now doing a third show and we’re on the hunt for people with entertaining stories who can deliver them, without notes, for 10ish to 15ish minutes. The organizers are Devon Perlmutter (emcee) and Erin Karygin and they would love to hear from you, or someone you know that might need a little push, if you/they’d like to be involved. Ticket proceeds will go to the AfterWords Literary Festival and admission will still be cheap. If you’re too timid to actually get up and do it, you can still participate as a member of the audience.
