Australia‘s Mama Kin kicks off her Canadian tour at The Carleton with a full band show on Tuesday, July 7th before heading off to the Evolve Festival and then points west. Show time is 8 PM and it’s only $10 at the door to get in! Kim Harris, Dana Beeler and Scotland’s Rachel Sermanni will be opening the show – that’s awfully good bang for your hard-earned buck!
Australian soulstress and ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) nominee Mama Kin releases, One Too Many, from her critically acclaimed album, ‘The Magician’s Daughter’ on July 8th.
Part raconteur and all-out entertainer, Mama Kin has been nominated for ARIA and AIR awards in her native Australia. It’s been four years since Mama Kin’s last Canadian tour dates. Back in 2011 she supported her husband John Butler (John Butler Trio) on his sold out tour including dates at the Sound Academy, Toronto and Ottawa Bluesfest.
A renowned live performer Mama Kin has shared stages nationally and internationally with the likes of Ani di Franco, John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire and The Waifs. Both her club and festival shows have earned her accolades at home and abroad receiving both Irish Times Gig of the Week and Port Ferry Folk Festival Artist of the Year on her most recent European and Australian tour dates.
