Braden Lam & The Driftwood People celebrate the release of his new EP, Driftwood People, with a show at The Carleton on Thursday, October 4th. Joining him on the night are openers Eric Stephen Martin and Emily Stuart. Show time is 9 PM and admission is only $6 at the door.

Braden Lam seems to mend every situation with his delivery of feel-good hooks and warm vocals. The folk-pop songwriter from Halifax, NS builds upon influences such as Hey Rosetta! and Dallas Green to create the refreshing and upbeat anthems of his life. His sophomore EP Driftwood People (September 2018) is an intimate look at the social disconnect of life on the road and the reconciliation of lost relationships. Growing up in rural Ontario, Braden’s honest lyrics reflect the many landscapes of his upbringing. He made his debut in 2016 with The Coast EP before settling upon Nova Scotia’s salty shores; where he has since been inspired and shaped by the allure of the ocean.

The full band, Braden Lam & The Driftwood People, are currently touring across Atlantic Canada promoting the new album. The Driftwood People, consists of Brett Chivari (drums), Nick Pothier (bass, vocals), and Jonathan MacKenzie (keys).

Eric Stephen Martin lives and breathes many different sounds by mixing the voice of soul with the softness of folk guitar and country/blues influences. This musical mix places him firmly in the Americana genre. Growing up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia he started writing songs at the age of 13, which has led to the creation of his large musical library. Eric attended the Gordie Sampson Songcamp in 2015, where he gained knowledge and developed tools that further widened his creative abilities. He wrote with many established Nova Scotian songwriters, as well as high-profile writers from Nashville, TN. Eric was invited back to attend the Gordie Sampson Songcamp in 2016 as a returning writer.

Within the past few years Eric has acquired experience supporting and playing alongside many different east coast artists like Carleton Stone, Kim Harris and Joel Plaskett. His newest single, Memphis, written with Stone, Caitlyn Smith and Rollie Gaalswyk, was released in March of 2017. Eric is constantly working on his songwriting and playing around the city of Halifax.

Emily Stuart is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Stuart performed a showcase at the 2016 ECMAs, as well as the 2017 ECMAs, and has held the #1 spot in the Indie charts on ReverbNation for 5 consecutive years.

In 2015, Stuart released her first EP “Expression“, for which she was nominated for Pop Recording of the Year at the 2016 Nova Scotia Music Awards and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2017 East Coast Music Awards.

Her beautiful writing style has allowed her to co-write with artists such as Ria Mae, Gabby Geneva, Erin Costelo, Jason Price, Jaclyn Reinhart and Brad Roberts.

At 23, her soulful and heartfelt writing and performance style draw listeners into her world, the world of Emily Stuart.
